Supernova 2004gt in NGC 4038

sn04gt_i.gif Discovered by Berto Monard (South Afica).   This is the famous Antennae Galaxy, a beautiful interacting pair of galaxies with long tails of stars following them.   This galaxy has hosted two there supernovae.   This supernova is in a HII region in the northern nucleus.   This is a type Ic.   We have a DSS Photometry reference image made by Odd Trondal.  Icon generated from the Sergio Castellon's color image.   This supernova is in the Constellation Corvus.
