Supernova 1986G in NGC 5128

One of the largest and intensically brightest galaxies Centarus A (NGC 5128) at Magnitude 7.0. This galaxy is a strong radio source in the southern constillation of Centarus. This supernova was first discovered on May 3rd of 1986 and reported in IAUC 4208. In IAUC 4210 we learned that this was a Type I supernova. It got as bright as mag 11.5 (also see IAUC 4215, 4216, 4224, 4230)
