Supernova 2002dv and 2002eg in UGC 11486

sn02dv_i.gif Discoved by LOTOSS. This is a very dim type II, found in a distant galaxy. Normally, not worth comment. We have a DSS Photometry reference image made by Odd Trondal.  Icon generated from the discovery image.

sn02eg_i.jpg Ella Sanders discovered this one, the thrid double SN in four months, almost a stastical impossibility. Ella was researching galaxies which with previous discoveries in them when she found this one. Turned out to be another type II, but much brighter than 2002dv.
